What is magic? Magic is the advent of energy and we are its conduit. Magic ignites the fire of our ritual act, heralding works of great significance; what is yet to be conjured. Magic begins when we recognize power that desires to flow through us, when we say now to the wisdom floating in the ether, when we agree to be the channel. We are all called to and for something: For Love. For Creation. For Death. For Power. For Reckoning. For Justice.

INCONJUNCT : ISSUE ONE : MAGIC/IANS

What is magic? Magic is the advent of energy and we are its conduit. Magic ignites the fire of our ritual act, heralding works of great significance; what is yet to be conjured. Magic begins when we recognize power that desires to flow through us, when we say now to the wisdom floating in the ether, when we agree to be the channel.

We are all called to and for something: For Love. For Creation. For Death. For Power. For Reckoning. For Justice.

Who is the Magician? Separated by only one degree, what the Fool may stumble into with intention, the Magician wills with action.

The Magician is the Apostle with tongues of flame licking at their consciousness, reaching down and earthing that power into community.

The Magician carries symbols of priestly action, anointed for their task at hand, to bridge the heavens and the earth through the work they are about to commence. The Magician is the Philosopher, the one who peers closely at the unspoken truths that lie between; the asker of all questions and perpetuator of inquiry. It is through magic that we learn the answers that lie in the territories of the unseen.

Not all of us will know what to do. Not all of us will be able to do it. We can say no. The energy will jump somewhere else. But with exuberance and skill, the ready Magician steps forward to put the theory to the test. Listen. Let the channel unfold. Say “now.” The magic is within all of us answering the call.

INCONJUNCT is accepting submissions for Issue One: MAGIC/IANS.

These are some of the images we bring:

Initiations. Certainty. Hesitation. Teacher. Student.Tools. Mastery. Skill. Ritual. Sacrament. Altar. Ceremony.
Heavens. Earth. Otherworld. Conduits. Spirits. Energies.
Knowledge. Resources. Philosophy. Inquiry. Decisions. Incantations. Enactment of will.

Seeds. Growth. Endurance.

We’re seeking visual artists, essayists, poets, scholars, and all creatives whose work is well-suited for print; we want you to step forward in exuberance to furnish our pages with the expansive meaning and presence that “MAGIC/IANS” enacts. Contributions can be personal, spiritual, magical, theological, academic, intellectual, philosophical, psychological, political, fictional, and however you may want to combine all of these. While the traditional card in the Major Arcana of the tarot is our point of departure, we hope that as we have, you will also take this philosophical thread and run free.
